4 Ways To Make Money With Your Bicycle

Can you make money with your bicycle? Yes, there are ways to earn cash via your bike. Let’s go over some of those ways, as well as the pros and cons of using your bike to make money.

1. GrubHub Bike Courier

Getting Started With GrubHub

Besides from a bike and filling out an application, there are a few things you need to get started with GrubHub. The main things you need are:

. A state ID (if you’re using a bike)
. Your bank account information

That’s really all there is to it. Bear in mind that your application might not be successful due to various reasons, but to complete the process, you will need to have the above two things. From the research I’ve done, the application process from filling it out to finding out if you can deliver for them is fast.

Note: GrubHub will perform a background check on you.

How Much Can You Earn With Your Bike via With GrubHub

You already know this, but many factors play a role in how much you can earn via a gig with GrubHub and with similar gigs. On Glassdoor, the average seems to be $12 per hour based on nearly 80 reports. This is for delivery drivers, so I’m actually not sure if this would include bike delivery drivers.

There’s really only one way to find out how much money you can earn with your bicycle delivering food via GrubHub; And that is to just do it.

2. Deliveroo

Deliveroo isn’t available to those in America. If you’re in the UK, Australia and some parts of Europe and the Middle East, then you can give it a try. Here’s what you need:

. A bike
. An iPhone or Android
. Prove you can work/authorized to work in the UK, Australia etc. . .

Deliveroo And Money

According to Deliveroo, you can earn as much as £120 per day. Deliveroo also says you can keep all of the tips you make, and you can earn money via referrals. According to the company, and at the time of this writing, you can earn over £200 for every person you refer to Deliveroo.

If you don’t mind delivering food to people via cycling, then Deliveroo might be for you or at least worth trying.

3. UberEats

UberEats is a subsidiary of Uber, hence the name “Uber” in their name. This company allows you to use your bicycle to pickup food from restaurants and deliver them to customers. If UberEats operates within your city, then it might be worth checking out.

How It Works

It’s simple, like Uber, you log into your app and wait for deliver requests to come through. You accept a request, get the food and bring it to the customer. And then you can keep tabs on your earnings.

Money

According to UberEats, everyday is payday. The company states that your earnings/cash is available to you right away. You don’t need to wait until the following week to get paid.

Furthermore, you can cash out up to 5X per day. So, if you earn $100 in a single day, you can cash out your hundred bucks on the same day. Bear in mind you do need a debit card to get paid instantly.

What You Need

Obviously, you need a bicycle if you plan on making money via delivering food with your bike. When you’re signing up to UberEats, make sure you choose the appropriate transportation method. In this case, it would be “biking.” You need proper identification (government issued) and you have to be at least eighteen.

4. Spinlister

If cycling and delivering food for money isn’t your thing, doesn’t appeal to you or you just want a different way to make money with your bicycle, then Spinlister might be worth looking into.

Spinlister describes itself as a bike rental and sharing service. It’s designed to connect bicycle owners like yourself to people looking to borrow or rent a bike. The way it works is you list your bicycle for rent and rent it out to those who are interested in your offer.

According to Spinlister, you can earn up to $500 per month by renting out your bike. If you have a bike in decent condition and you don’t really use it all that often or you have a spare bike, then you might want to think about listing it on Spinlister.

The Pros

If you’re in a major city, then the potential to earn good cash regularly is there. Not only that, but cycling is fun and it’s a good form of exercise. If you have a busy day, then you’ll be earning cash, having fun and getting exercise in. What a day!

In short, the pros are:

. Potential to earn good cash
. Can be fun
. Good form of exercise

The Cons

Personally, I think the only way you’ll earn good money with your bicycle is if you live in a major city. Also, the work might not be as consistent as you’d hope, and if you live somewhere that has winters and fall, then you’ll be doing the gig in the cold; that is if you choose to do it all-year-round.

In short, the cons are:

. Really need to be in a major city (my opinion)
. Can be doing gigs in the cold
. Work might not always be consistent

Tips

I don’t really have in-depth tips that are guaranteed to help you earn money with your bicycle. But, I do recommend staying logged into whatever app you decide to use. Remain logged in for as long as you’re able to and be willing to pickup any order that comes through, or rent to anyone if you decide to use Spinlister.

Also, become familiar with all areas of your city if you plan on doing UberEats, Deliveroo or GrubHub. This could help you make deliveries much faster.

I recommend trying out all four ways. By doing so, you have a better chance of earning some cash with your bike.

Cities Ideal For Using Your Bike To Make Money

Pretty much any major city is probably the ideal place to try to make money with your bicycle. I’m talking about cities such as Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, New York, Dublin, London, Sydney, Melbourne and so on. If you live in a major city, then you probably have a good chance of earning money on a regular basis with your bicycle; otherwise, you will likely earn next to nothing. I could be wrong and the only way to find out is to attempt it yourself.

Conclusion

Making money with your bicycle isn’t a bad gig, if you live in a city like the ones previously mentioned. If you’re looking to earn some extra cash, then give GrubHub, Deliveroo, UberEats and/or SpinLister a try today.
